Chef Wayne’s Crumble Catering Serves the Stars

Before "Rent," Jonathan Larson had a story to tell, his own.

At the age of 35, Larson died suddenly after the final dress rehearsal of "Rent" from an undiagnosed heart problem. Larson's first play, "tick.tick.Boom," chronicle's his struggle to infuse musical theatre with a contemporary, joyful urban vitality.

The Los Angeles production of "tick.tick.Boom" opened at the Coronet Theater on June 10, followed by a gala celebration at Mark's Restaurant on La Cienega.

Celebrities, cast and crew attending including Wilson Cruz (TV's "My So Called Life," "The West Wing," "Noah's Arc" and Ovation Award for RENT), Broadway veteran Tami Tappan Damiano (Ellen in Miss Saigon), newcomer Andrew Samonsky, director Scott Schwartz, choreographer Christopher Gattelli, along with producers Michael Jackowitz and Karyl Lynn Burns.

Mark's Restaurant co-owners, Chef Wayne Elias and Chris Diamond, created truly inspirational cuisine for this wonderful evening honoring Larson's musical genius and enjoying the talents of an extraordinary company of performers.

Guests were treated to Lavender-Walnut Crusted Chicken with Honey Aioli along with Spicy Tuna Avocado Rolls with Wasabi and Chile Garlic Dip. For dessert, Chef Wayne and Diamond served up Mini Macadamia Heart Cookies dipped in chocolate, Mini Fresh Fruit Jewel Tarts, Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake Swirls and other delights.
