Scene 6 – Gay Chef Sweetens Up “Chocolate
Factory” Premiere
The
July 10th premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at
the benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation
was sweetened up by the contributions
of Chef Wayne Elias who served up his
desert delicacies. You may have
heard of Chef Wayne because he is the
culinary talent behind the Elton John
AIDS Foundation Oscar Party and the resident
chef at the ultra-hip Mark’s
Restaurant in West Hollywood. According
to my sources at the premiere, Chef Wayne
served “enough sweets to set everyone’s
diet back a quarter century!”
Chef
Wayne and Tim Burton
At Mark’s
Restaurant (861 N. La Cienega Blvd.
in West Hollywood), Chef Wayne recently
introduced a fresh new menu focusing
on the best of California Cuisine. “With
a scene as appetizing as the cuisine,
Mark’s dazzles the palette…” they
say. My key source explained, “Chef
Wayne has created an assortment of inciting
appetizers, tantalizing entrees and scintillating
desserts created for the casual warm-weather
dining Southern California is famous
for. As always, each item is prepared
with the freshest ingredients, organically-grown,
whenever possible.” Building
upon such perennial favorites as “Mark’s
Famous Salad,” “Chef Wayne’s
Turkey Meatloaf” and the ever-popular “Surf
and Turf,” Chef Wayne draws on
both regional and international tastes.
Now he unveils such delicacies including:
The colorful and nutty Caprese Tower
salad with layered red & yellow tomatoes,
buffalo mozzarella, basil, balsamic reduction
and toasted pine nuts; Tender and
flavorful Seared Australian Lamb Loin
with roasted garlic sauce, wilted spring
greens & mint parsilade with Heirloom
Potatoes; and Spinach Penne Langoustino,
with its zestful lobster-cognac sauce,
sun-dried tomatoes and fava beans. “All
of the new menu items are as distinct
and diverse as the patrons we serve – very
international, but also very Californian,” explains
Chef Wayne.
I
was telling you about those sweets “comprised
of modern classics and simple sophistication,” including
Chef Wayne’s Chocolate Chip “Iron
Skillet” Cookie; Grandma Elias Key
Lime Pie; Jamaican Rum Cheesecake; Warm Flourless
Belgian Chocolate Cake; Triple Chocolate
Pudding Pie; Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee;
Mango or Strawberry Sorbet and much more. And
for those that wish to have the dining experience
continue after their visit, there is always
